Indian Time confirmed reports on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 that the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has signed an agreement with Seaway Valley Ambulance Service. Any person needing emergency medical assistance and transportation on the southern portion of Akwesasne will now receive ambulance service from Seaway Valley Ambulance. Don Burnstick is a Cree comedian from Alexander First Nation outside of Edmonton, Alberta. He came to Ahkwesahsne to perform on December 31st, so fitting being New Years Eve. He performed for about two and a half hours of straight laughter and crying. This past Christmas finished with a lot of happy boys and girls thanks to an anonymous group who donated $3000.00 to help with the purchase of the Teens Christmas gifts and the Kids Christmas gifts. Akwesasne, NY - Tribal elders aged 68 years and over are noticing a $75 reduction in their monthly electric bills or rent beginning this month. It is the first of three monthly reductions elders will receive following a decision by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council to renew a program that first ran during the spring of 2015. Members of the US Coast Guard, stationed in Alexandria Bay joined forces with the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Station in Akwesasne to review and practice ice water rescue training procedures and practices.
