The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe reported this week that there may be a phone scam occurring in the community related to prescription drugs. A community member recently reported to the tribe that they received a phone call last week during which they were asked to participate in a survey. The caller allegedly wanted to know what type of prescription drugs were in the household. The community member refused to answer the questions over the phone and instead asked for a written survey. The resource officer acts as a liaison between students, families, teachers and educational administrators. After the Christmas break it’s always nice to get back to school and start the New Year with something special. Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School (AMS) held its first award presentation for 2011 and the first group of students to be recognized happened to be the Early Years students. The Haudenosaunee Nations are in their Midwinter Ceremonies. Ogdensburg hosted the Don Goult Memorial Basketball Tournament this past weekend welcoming teams from Harrisville, Heuvelton, and Massena to compete against Ogdensburg and each other. Massena’s 6th grade team faced the Ogdensburg Blue Devils in their first game and won.
