  • Letter to the Editor

    Jan 7, 2010

Letter to the Editor, We had to travel to Burlington, VT last Saturday to retrieve my niece at the airport. The roads coming home were awful the whole way and we noticed that many stretches had not been plowed for a while. After hours and hours on the road we finally hit home, the eastern edge of Akwesasne. Holy cow, what a difference in road conditions! Our road crew had certainly been keeping up with the snowfall and the roads were clear and sanded. Their dedicated, hard work was noticed and appreciated as we finally got to our houses, safe...

  • Sullivan County A Bad Deal

    Doug George Kanentiio|Jan 7, 2010

The St. Regis Tribal Council is holding a January 30th referendum, which will, hopefully, bring a permanent end to the Sullivan County casino project. The Tribe nullified a previous vote because the members were not given enough time between the public notice and when the actual ballots were cast but in light of recent information about the casino investors the vote against the project should be more decisive and without doubt. Empire Resorts, the casino company which is at the heart of this deal, is once again in a state of chaos. Empire was...

  • “Weight Loss and Health Secrets with Jason Christoff”

    Jan 7, 2010

Most people are aware that a weight loss attempt does not always equal weight loss success. Losing weight is like any other recipe. You need all the ingredients present at the exact same time and within precise ratios to achieve the desired effect. Think about weight loss success as being just like the parts of a car engine. When only one part is missing, the entire unit fails to function properly and in many cases one missing engine part will translate into a situation where the engine does not run at all. Getting your weight loss...

  • ‘Real’ Doctors and Second Opinions

    Jan 7, 2010

Perhaps the most important ‘rule’ for patients to remember when consulting any health care professional is that getting a ‘second opinion’ is a logical and beneficial process. Taking such a step ensures that one has all the information and opinions necessary to make an informed decision regarding one’s own health care. Quite simply, patients usually consult with more than one realtor when listing a house, or more than one financial advisor when starting a retirement plan. Why, then, would they not seek ‘second opinions’ with their health...
