The Canadian Red Cross sponsored the 2008 Cornwall Triathlon held on August 16th and 17th. For the kids’ races, all were held at Mattice Park on Saturday the 16th and for the adults further towards NavCan on Sunday the 17th. A great weekend for racing held true for the kids who entered either the duathlon or the triathlon events. July 13, 2008 The day started at 5 am. It was raining and it was windy in Utica. I thought, never ran a Boilermaker race when it wasn’t hot. Even better. Wouldn’t you know it by 7:30 am on the way to the start line, it stops raining. The race announcer states a piece of Boilermaker history that it has never rained DURING the race. On Fathers Day June 15th, the sun broke through the early clouds and fog as runners from across the country gathered for the 5th Annual Lake Placid Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay. By 8 a.m., 1600 registered runners began the trek from the Olympic Oval east around Mirror Lake traveling back towards the Olympic center and out toward the Ski Jumps.
