    A body pulled from the river Tuesday afternoon may be that of a young man missing from Akwesasne for over a month. The body was found stuck at a private dock at the mouth of the St. Regis River and Snye Channel. At press time rescue workers and police remained at the scene awaiting the coroner’s arrival.   • Judge rejects Oakes’ request

    A Franklin County judge has denied a request by Richard Oakes, 39, of Akwesasne to change his plea. Oakes accepted a plea agreement this past June and agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter in exchange for a lesser sentence and lowered charge. Both Oakes and his girlfriend, Rhonda Amber Dufoe, 25, were arrested after Thomas Hathaway, 44, was found shot to death inside his burning home in September 2008.     Family and friends are searching the St. Regis River and Hogansburg dam area this week following an early morning car accident Sunday that resulted in one man missing.     A 27-year-old Brushton man who was the subject of a massive manhunt across the North Country last week has been arrested. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, Robert J.
