On Sunday, March 29, the Fort Covington Fire Station was filled to the brim with families enjoying food, vendors, a raffle and Chinese auction and more. On Tuesday, March 10, the Investing in the Potential Charitable Foundation, an initiative of the Akwesasne Convenience Store Association, presented a donation to representatives of the Akwesasne Little NHL teams. There are eight teams traveling to the 44th annual Little Native Hockey League Tournament in Mississauga on March 16 to March 19, 2015. On Saturday morning at the St. Regis Mohawk School a group braved the cold and knee-deep snow for a benefit kickball tournament for the SRC Mohawk Club. They are raising money for students to take a trip to the Sante Fe Indian School for a cultural exchange. On Saturday, Valentine's Day, the St. Regis Mission Church Fund Raising Committee held a Rose Sale at Saint Kateri hall. In the multipurpose room, the Walking With Our Sisters Fundraising Committee served a spaghetti dinner to benefit the installation that's coming to Akwesasne in November 2015. Last Thursday, a heartwarming scene took place at the shop of Andria Cooke. Logan Mitchell, daughter of Keith Mitchell, went to pick up a puppy that is sure to be seen around this spring. Logan stopped at Smoking Arrow last Wednesday morning to check out the cutest little Shih-Tzu you've ever seen. Later that evening, Keith stopped in and saw the puppy as well. On Sunday afternoon, the Snye Recreation smelled of the holidays as the committee held Gingerbread House and Pumpkin Roll Making. A couple dozen kids came out and made some great looking gingerbread creations, snacking and building simultaneously. The Snye Recreation Committee has been putting the event on for about seven years.
