    The Akwesasne Storm Midget 1 Lacrosse team has qualified for an "A" ranking. The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) released the list recently, and out of at least 60 teams, Akwesasne comes in at 15th.     On Saturday June 28, Swamp's Performance Automotive held the 2nd annual Cruisin' for Kids Car and Bike show. The fundraiser benefits the Akwesasne Freedom School and the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club. This year the event expanded adding vendors, power wheels races and DJ Lauzon.     On Thursday, June 19, 2014, the St. Regis Mohawk School held their graduation ceremonies for the Pre-Kindergarten and 5th grade classes. It was a beautiful day for the occasion and the ceremonies were held outside under a large white tent. Pre-K was up first at 9:30am.     On Tuesday June 24, the St. Regis Mohawk School held a Talent Show for students. Several students took advantage of the opportunity to show their talent to their classmates and teachers.     On Saturday, the 2nd annual Music 4 Miracles fundraiser was held at the Brass Horse and there was something for everyone. The day started for the volunteers, and the Border Eagle Riders doing a poker run fundraiser, at about 8:30am. Rider Ron Garrow said the Border Eagle Riders do about two runs a year to help kids with medical expenses like traveling and lodging.     "I am Appreciated" was the theme on Thursday June 19, as the St. Regis Recreation committee hosted a Bus Driver Appreciation Dinner at the St. Regis Recreation. The main organizers were committee members Laura Thompson and Charity Brad Lazore. The dinner was open to current and retired bus drivers from Salmon River, Massena and AMBE schools.     On Tuesday June 17, Oneida Elders Program seniors came to visit the Seniors Center in Hogansburg. About 29 people came according to Program Coordinator Jane Rooney. She said it's been about 4 years since they have come for a visit. About 50 Akwesasne seniors recently took a bus to the Oneida Wellness Conference and visited them.     On Friday June 6th, the Kanatakon School held a their annual Powwow in the gym. Aboriginal Experience, from Ottawa, came again this year and gave the kids powwow dancing lessons.     On Thursday June 5th, the St. Regis Rec Dance Club held their "Welcome to the Jungle" 2014 spring dance recital at the Snye School. It was jungle themed with plenty of leopard print, zebra stripes and cheetah patterns, and the dancers have been practicing for weeks.     On Saturday, the fourth annual Kids for Fishing event was held at the St. Regis Recreation. It was a gorgeous day and the fish were biting!     The St. Regis Mohawk Elementary Band was outside practicing their marching skills on Thursday, and if you watched the Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, you saw them play. Led by Mr. Justin Hahn, it was their third year marching in the parade. The band is busy this time of year, having just performed their spring concert a couple of weeks ago.     On Sunday, the St. Regis Mission Church Fundraising Committee held a Memorial Day Bazaar at Kateri Hall. There were several vendors and two bouncy houses outside along with concession stands selling hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, cotton candy, ice cream and much more.     Last Wednesday, May 21, 2014, AMBE celebrated its First Annual Community Wide Language Fair at the Kanatakon School. During school hours, students presented their display boards and some classes performed songs and skits for the community.
