On Friday, June 24, 2016, more than 200 people attended the 2016 graduation ceremony at the Salmon River Arena, where 102 students received their diplomas. The Salmon River boys hockey squad entered Thursday night's game against the Thousand Island/Alexandria Bay Islanders knowing a win would get them to Cheel Arena and closer to a DII Championship title.
