These guests were honored as part of the “The Role Model” project that Ms. Fox has been doing for the past eight years. The 2013 girls varsity lacrosse team is the first team in Section 10 history to win a state tournament game when it held on to win the opening round game against Section 4 champs, Maine-Endwell, 12-11, at Vestal High School. It was two bitter cold days for the end of May on the Massena Country Club golf course, but Hunter Francis was heating it up as he took first place at the Section 10 Golf Championships last weekend. The SRCS boy’s varsity lacrosse ended its 2013 regular NAC season with a perfect undefeated record of 14-0 in front of hometown fans as they defeated Potsdam, 18-7. On Tuesday, April 30th, Nicole Hart was sitting in her Earth Science class at Salmon River when the Grim Reaper came through the doorway and led her away. For the rest of the day she had to wear a black t-shirt and a sign around her neck that stated how she died and she could not talk to anyone. It was a beautiful cool morning for nearly 25,000 runners at the 2013 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Among those runners were four people from Akwesasne, Ellen Cook, her seven-year-old son Brandon Cook, Julie White and myself. Brandon ran the Kids One Mile Fun Run and placed fourth out of 250 plus children. Julie and Ellen completed the 5K while I ran the half marathon. One comeback outdid another last Wednesday as the St. Lawrence Larries earned a 12-11 NAC win over the Red Raiders at the Mike Nicholas Field.
