Recently there have been reports of whooping cough in surrounding areas: There are over 40 cases of whooping cough reported in the Watertown area and at least 2 cases in St. Lawrence county as of the 25th of July. During the months of April & May, MCA Community Health Immunization Program had an immunization blitz. We asked that parents bring in their child’s immunization records and then that child’s name would be entered into the drawing at the end of May. We had quite a few entries, which was great! The Daisy Girl Scout Troop of Akwesasne #4039, Grades 5-6 Kindergarten and Grade 1, came together on Dec. 15th to help the people of Attawapiskat. The girls made 10 hand-tied fleece blankets, with the help of their parents and friends, to send up north to keep the Cree kids warm. It took us about an hour and a half to get these blankets ready, and I’m really proud of these little girls that took time out of their day and had the patience to sit and tie these blankets.
