On Friday August 19th the Akwesasne Soaring Eagles summer program held a volleyball skills and technical camp for ages 14-under at the Kawehno:ke sand courts. This program will help develop the summer beach volleyball program with the Soaring Eagles Volleyball club, which is in its first year of competition. The Ronathahon:ni & Hotinonhson:ni cultural Summer Theatre Arts & Dance program are on task in developing the summer participants into well rounded performers. All participants have been exposed to performing on the Ronathahon:ni Stage and all have constructed their own hoops. On Saturday, March 13, the Akwesasne Soaring Eagles Volleyball Club hosted its first preliminary tryout for the 2010 Native Inter-band Games. Approximately twenty participants attended and registered. There will be two more identification tryout camps, April 24th and May 22nd location & time to be announced. The 2010 Native Inter-band Games are scheduled for July 4th-11th in Mistiisini and will be used as playdowns for teams to qualify to represent at the North American Indigenous Games in Wisconsin.
