    On Saturday, November 17, Lead Horse and Neddie Thompson showed a documentary they made about their past two trips to Pine Ridge, South Dakota. A third trip is expected to be made shortly, as well.     On Friday, a puppet show was held at the St. Regis Recreation hall. The show, about Hiawatha as a young man before he follows a vision quest, was told using puppets by Catskill Puppet Theatre out of Oneonta, New York. John Potocnik and John Ryan performed the show for the crowd of families gathered.     Sunday’s game between Akwesasne and Morrisburg was marred by a steady parade of penalties. In spite of all that Akwesasne topped Morrisburg 6-1. The game ran about 45 minutes longer than usual, just due to the sheer number of penalties. This game follows the loss of Morrisburg co-owner and president, Ron Casselman, who passed away a few days prior, on Tuesday.     Versatile artists Filfred Tahy and his wife Shirelle are located on Cornwall Island and own Tahy’s Fine Art & Design. Filfred is from the Dine’ Nation, and Shirelle is from Akwesasne. Both Filfred and Shirelle are artists, with Shirelle working on painting, beadwork, moccasins, and sculpture. Filfred, who is self taught, works in a variety of mediums as well, ranging from acrylic, pencil, charcoal, ink.     On Friday November 16th, SRMT Environment Department’s Solid Waste Management Program will be holding an event to celebrate and raise awareness of National Recycling Day. This will be the Solid Waste Management Department’s first Recycling Day, and the event will run from 10am-2pm.     On November 9th through the 11th, the St. Lawrence Arts Council held its 25th annual Studio Tour. The tour ranges from Parishville to Akwesasne, and includes some 20 sites along the way. In Akwesasne, artists and crafters gathered at the Seniors Center to display and sell their goods. By my count there were about 12 vendors there Saturday for the studio tour.     On Thursday, November 8th, the Cornwall Regional Task Force RCMP Detachment held an open house to introduce the public to what the task force does. Const.     Akwesasne’s goalie Cam Turcotte was bulletproof on Saturday getting his second shutout of the season. The Akwesasne Wolves topped the Brockville Tikis on Saturday at the A’nowara’kowa Arena with a score of 7-0. Akwesasne took more shots on goal with 38 to Brockville’s 27.     On Friday, November 2nd, at the Ft. Covington Seniors Center, a presentation about the War of 1812 was given. The presentation was given by Author Jack Bilow, and comes after the completion last fall of his second book, A War of 1812 Death Register: Whispers in the Dark.     On Saturday, November 4th, at the Methodist Church in Hogansburg, there was a coat give-away, craft sale and food sale. When you first walked in there were several donated coats hung over the pews in the church, which were available for those who needed a good warm jacket.     On Saturday November 3rd, a Power Wheels Racing event was held at the Akwesasne Mohawk School. Kids drove the power wheels around a track made out of small orange cones. The kids did laps around the track in one direction and then they were turned around and did the course in reverse.     In Jr. B Hockey Saturday, the Akwesasne Wolves beat the Alexandria Glens with an overtime goal by Dillon Barr at 2:49. Barr was helped by Dom Coyle and Teilen Celentano. The Wolves got a massive oppurtunity in OT to keep them in it, and allowed them to go on to score. Barr also opened it up for the Wolves by scoring the first goal of the game at 2:26 in the first.     On Thursday night, at the Snye Recreation hall, Dr. Neil MacDonald gave a lecture on the Indian Act, which was sponsored by the Entewatatha:wi Program.
