    Two babies (boys) born about one month apart were baptized at the St. Regis Catholic Church in October 2011. This celebration was not your typical event. We will focus just on Baby Eric Bentley Oakes, five months old now. Eric Bentley’s Rakeni is a first time dad Dustin Oakes, and Eric’s Istha is a first time mom, Jordan Cook (both missing from photo). The mothers of this couple are first time Sohtha’s (grandmothers).     Seaway Toastmasters Club held a Humorous and Evaluation Area Speech Contest on October 11, 2011, at the Cornwall Armories. The next level will be Division A speech contest in Morrisburg. Then the final District 61 Fall Conference in November.     Four young entrepreneurs, jumping up and down waving their ‘Lemonade for Sale’ sign, caught my attention on Johnson Road in Kana:takon on August 18.     The weather added a nice warm touch for the Catholic Vacation Bible Camp week held daily from 9am to 12noon at Blessed Sacrament, Cornwall. Spending a week discovering Jesus, Mary and the Saints through amazing music, entertaining bible stories, fun crafts, all leading to faith teachings.     S.D. & G. Akwesasne Children’s Treatment Centre held their annual meeting on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at best Western Parkway Inn, Cornwall. Everyone was welcome; the special guest speaker of the evening was Mr. Phil Fontaine, the former Assembly of First Nations National Chief for three terms.     Mental illness strikes more than six million people right across the country. The death toll for Canadian suicide each year is 4,000 (aged 15-24) according to published reports.
