Economic Development, Community Health and Environment programs of Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, came together to conduct a Garden Contest. This has been a debate for a long time. I don’t do plastic. I usually opt for paper, but really paper is no better. I sometimes don’t take either one and just carry my stuff out of the store, but some people don’t like that. My son was actually told by one clerk that he had to take a plastic bag. She said, “No you have to take a bag!” He was like, “No, I don’t. I don’t want a bag.” I was so proud! Team Eastern Door and the North Senior Women’s Volleyball Team won the Bronze Medal at the North American Indigenous Games in Cowichan, B.C. Tuesday August 5, 2008. It all started with a trip to the Cornwall Lift Off on Saturday night to see Theory Of A Deadman. The trio of Tyler Connolly (vocals/guitar), Dean Back (bass), and David Brenner (guitar) from British Columbia played to an enthusiastic crowd. You couldn’t have asked for better weather on Saturday for the National Aboriginal Day festivities on Victoria Island in Ottawa. The sun was shining; there was a nice breeze to keep you from getting too hot, and plenty of Onkwehonwe from across Canada.
